Samoussa: a lovely meal to discover when traveling

Samoussa is a crispy little triangle filled with vegetables or meat: a real treat!

 

Samoussa or samosa is a speciality originating from northern India and Pakistan. It has crossed many borders to arrive on European tables as a main course, aperitif or snack.

Very easy to make, it is composed of a very thin dough made of wheat flour in the centre of which a freely composed filling is added and fried like a doughnut. Samossas are an ideal travel snack. It can be found in railway stations, bus stations, in the street… As it is fried, there is little chance of getting sick if you are in doubt about its freshness. It is very cheap, easy to transport, in each country, each region, it is different.

Cheap and tasty, it can be eaten on the go or at a restaurant table, strongly spiced or not, sprinkled with coriander, parsley it knows how to stand for an elegant dinner. It can be found on the menu of chic restaurants all over the world. Small as an appetizer or larger as a main course, with or without meat, cheese or vegetables, it is impossible to list all the variants as they are so numerous. You can even find them as a dessert with a sweet version!
