Why cast of, go far, long and travel to the end of the world?

And why shouldn't I go to the end of the world when I'm 20, 30 or 50?

Nonsense!” “You’re completely mad !” Or, “It’s too dangerous!”
That’s probably what you’ll hear when you tell your friends, relatives, loved ones that you want to go far away, alone, off the beaten track and for a long time.
They might also say, “At your age?“.
But most of all they will ask, “Why? Aren’t you happy here?“. Going on a trip, casting off is an extraordinary project, many may not understand why you want to leave.
Here’s a little overview of all the reasons that throw travellers on the world’s roads.

Everyone will have their own reasons for leaving but they always revolve around the same motivations

For adventure, with a capital A

And yes, adventure. Getting out of your comfort zone, looking elsewhere. Discover the rest of the world, but not on a screen. To get out of the routine that no longer flourishes, to rediscover a taste for challenges, the incredible, cold showers, chaotic roads and big skies. A great trip allows you to rediscover a taste for adventure and to rediscover strong sensations!

For freedom, with big F (and two wings)

For some, the journey is free, without constraints, without timetables, without dates.
This type of travel allows you to be able to stay where you want to stay, and leave when you have decided to leave. Choosing your route each day and the people you want to share it with. In routine, this freedom is limited, punctuated by schedules, homework, birthdays and career plans. Regaining the freedom of time is a luxury, a treasure. Going on a big trip is a way to set the record straight!

To make your own choices

In life we more or less choose our surroundings, our playground, our path.
It’s not a chance to set out on the roads of the world, it’s a choice. You give up birthdays, central heating, a soft bed, a feather duvet and your favourite meals. Above all, we choose insecurity. No home, no fixed plans, no routine.
While we walk around, even if we work on the way, we don’t capitalize on the same thing anymore. Personal enrichment then takes precedence over material enrichment. But no one imposes this path. Every day we find the “why I’m here”.
We don’t dream about it, we go there.

For all the others that remain to be met

Choose community, exchange rather than solitude, isolation, individual.
The full rather than the empty. Dormitories, canteens, overcrowded buses. Many want to be in the midst of others again. Their smiles, their stories, their questions too. The mixing, the heckling, the babies, the old people, the saleswomen, the other travellers. Exchanging empty or fleeting glances, headsets screwed on the ears, the fear of being grazed, touched against the joyful bazaar of adventure countries. Leaving your loved ones for the time of a journey is also to meet all those who cross your path.

To get out of your small world and discover the big one…

For my part, I’m awfully curious, and that’s not a bad thing. I feel like eating locusts, drinking fermented mare’s milk, getting to know the desert, the jungle, the sea, the sharks, the camels, the caves, the rivers, the crocodiles…and alas also the mosquitoes. Discovering the world allows you to fill your life with fresh air and to see all the life on this beautiful planet.

For myself and only for myself

One day, regardless of your age, you realize that all you do is work to meet everyone’s needs. Because sometimes you lose your life earning it.
Because sometimes you also get old all at once. For society, its job offers, the children who have grown up and all those around you who have shut themselves away in a sanitized life and no longer want to go on adventures. Suddenly for some, or gradually for others, you don’t go out anymore, you’re not offered it either, and you feel as if you’re waiting for a train that won’t arrive anymore.
Because we still want to be useful too.
Because these travellers often have more to offer than to charge.

Going on an big travel is certainly going to scare your loved ones, your family, but to reassure them, you have all the arguments you can, but above all this one: you want to live your life with passion!
Leaving is not difficult but once the decision is made, a little thought and organization is required. All the answers to your questions are certainly here!

To read if you still have questions about the trip!
